AFCAT Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for AFCAT exam, candidates need to fulfil the following criteria
Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India
Age limit: The age limits prescribed for the exam are different for different branches. The table below contains the age limit for different branches.

Martial Status
· Candidates below 25 years of age must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course
· Widows/Widowers and divorcees below 25 years are also not eligible
· Married candidates above 25 years are eligible to apply, but during their training period, they are neither provided married accommodation nor can they live with family

Q. How many times AFCAT is conducted in a year?
A. AFCAT exam is conducted twice a year in February and August/September by Indian Air Force.
Q. How many times I can give the AFCAT exam?
A. There is no capping in the number of attempts in the AFCAT exam. Candidates falling with the prescribed age limit can appear for the exam.
Q. Can I apply for AFCAT after Class 12?
A. No, to be eligible for the AFCAT exam candidates must be a graduate.
Q: When AFCAT (2) 2021 notification is expected to be released?
A: AFCAT (2) 2021 notification is expected to be released by the IAF in June.
Q: When AFCAT (2) 2021 exam will be conducted?
A: AFCAT (2) 2021 exam is expected to be conducted on August 21 and 22 for candidates who will successfully apply for the exam.
Q. How the merit list for AFSB Interview prepared?
A. The merit list to select candidates for the AFSB test is prepared from those who scores the minimum qualifying marks.
Q. What is the salary of a flying officer selected through AFCAT?
A. The salary of a flying officer selected through AFCAT is Rs 56,100 to 1,10,700.
Q. How the candidates are selected for training after the final appointment through AFCAT?
A. Candidates recommended by AFSBs and found medically fit are selected for training based on the merit and availability of vacancies.
Q. What is the minimum acceptable height in AFCAT exam?
A. The minimum acceptable height for male candidates in Ground Duty (Technical/Non-technical) Branch is 157.5 cms. For women candidates, the minimum acceptable height is 152 cms. The minimum acceptable height for men and women candidates in Flying Branch is 162.5 cms.
Q. When AFCAT (1) 2021 result was announced?
A. AFCAT (1) 2021 result was announced on March 9. To download the result from the official website, candidates need to enter email ID, password and captcha code.
Q. When were AFCAT (1) 2021 and AFCAT (2) 2021 exam conducted?
A. AFCAT (1) 2021 exam was conducted on February 20, 21, and 22 and Aug 28-30 by the Indian Air Force. The exam was conducted in multiple shifts.
Q. What was the cut off marks for AFCAT (I) 2021 exam?
A. AFCAT (I) cut off was 165 while EKT cut off was 30.
Q. What was the cut off marks for AFCAT (2) 2021 exam?
A. AFCAT (2) cut off was 157 while EKT cut off was 18.
Q. Will I be eligible for the AFSB interview if I did not clear the EKT cutoff in the exam but cleared the AFCAT cutoff?
A. Yes, you will be eligible for the AFSB interview only if you have selected other Non-Technical branches such as administration, flying, etc. You will not be considered for the Technical Branch.
Q. Is it compulsory to clear EKT cutoff along with AFCAT cutoff, if applied for both?
A. Yes, you need to clear both the cutoffs for EKT and AFCAT if you have applied for both.
Q. Is the score of 191 in AFCAT decent enough to make it to the merit list?
A. Yes, a score of 191 is very high and it is above average score. You will be considered on the merit list if you clear the AFSB interview.
Q. How AFCAT marks are decided?
A. AFCAT marks are decided based on the number of factors such as difficulty level, number of vacancies, and number of test-takers.
Q. Do we need to pass separately in each section?
A. There is no sectional AFCAT cut off in AFCAT exam. The total marks of AFCAT exam are 300, out of which you have to score above the cutoff marks. AFCAT cutoff usually ranges from 120 to 150 marks.
Q. Is it true that not every candidate who scored AFCAT cut off is called for AFSB but only 5,000 of them are for the same?
A. No, all candidates who secure above the AFCAT cut off marks are called for AFSB.
Q. I have scored 166 marks in the AFCAT exam and the cut off is 140, is there any chance of getting through the merit list?
A. Yes, you will be considered for the merit list of the AFSB interview.
Q. I scored one mark above the cutoff, is there any chance of selection?
A. Yes, you will be declared qualified in the online test of AFCAT. You need to prepare well for all the stages of AFSB test.
Q. How many candidates qualify the AFCAT exam?
A. Around 10,000 candidates are selected for the AFSB test based on their performance in the online test.
Q. Is there any sectional cut off in AFCAT exam?
A. No, there is no sectional cut off for AFCAT exam. Candidates need to secure the overall cut off marks.
